Percival pining for more free money from . . ?

Looks like someone has apparently gone through the $6 million he earned doing promotional work for the Detroit Tigers. Word has it that former Angels’ closer Troy Percival has been clocked at 97 mph recently and is looking to make a comeback at age 38. For the record, after infamously signing the two-year deal offered to him by a then pitching-desperate Detroit over dinner (rumor has it they hadn’t even received the menus yet before Percy was dotting the I’s and crossing the T’s) the former fireballer threw a grand total of 25 innings for Detroit over that two-year span.

Most memorable appearance? A ball hit off Percival by Justin Morneau that NASA is reportedly still tracking, pummelled into orbit on an ill-advised curveball just prior to Percival pulling the chute on his season. What a joke. Stay retired already, Troy. Have some dignity - and some professional pride. Quit looking for another easy buck. You know, at least Dominik Hasek had the stones to pony-up more than $2 million back to Red Wings’ management following his previous injury-filled post-retirement comeback with the Wings. No such guilt with Percival though, eh Troy?
